Jimmy Houston Outdoors has been a popular TV staple (ESPN) for two decades. Here, writing with freelancer Price, Houston shares his accumulated wisdom about and experience with bass fishing. The pieces are very informal, brief and jerky-Houston says the book involved a tape recorder instead of a TV camera. Topics include technique, bait, boats, rods and how to remove a hook from the hand. Major factors in fishing for bass are water conditions, type of water, time of year and weather, Houston shows. Reminiscing about tournaments he and his wife have fished, he compares tournament fishing with long-distance auto racing in terms of the concentration required. This book is limited in scope; bass fishermen and ~ -women will appreciate it, but Houston’s medium is television, not print.
